Grayscale compared ZEC to Bitcoin and stated that ZEC could further increase its market capitalization ratio compared to BTC
One of the altcoins recently in the spotlight is the privacy-focused cryptocurrency Zcash (ZEC). While ZEC has been making headlines with its recent price increases, a noteworthy assessment has come from Grayscale
Accordingly, Grayscale compared ZEC to Bitcoin and stated that ZEC could further increase its ratio to Bitcoin’s (BTC) market capitalization
Grayscale X stated in its post that Zcash’s market capitalization, which was less than 0.1% of Bitcoin’s market capitalization about a year ago, has risen to approximately 1.5% today. It was also noted that the ZEC price increased from around $60 to $1,500 during the same period
According to Grayscale Research Head Zach Pandl, one of Zcash’s most important differentiators is its technology focused on financial privacy. Pandl notes that in an environment where digital transactions can be analyzed more frequently, the demand for financial privacy may increase over time
Pandl had previously highlighted the differences in privacy approaches between Bitcoin and Zcash in his assessments. He recalled that he had stated in those assessments that Bitcoin lacked a privacy layer and that Zcash offered a different design approach in this area
Pandl also points out in his assessment that Zcash’s current 1.5% share of Bitcoin’s market capitalization is not an extraordinary level for the cryptocurrency market
At this point, Pandl cited XRP, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, and Dash as examples. According to the comparison shared by Pandl, in 2017 and 2018, XRP, BCH, LTC, and DASH each reached more than 3% of BTC’s market capitalization
Pandl added that if demand for privacy-preserving technology continues to grow and Zcash maintains its competitive advantage in the sector, ZEC’s market share could increase even further
As ZEC’s popularity continues to grow, Gemini co-founder Tyler Winklevoss has also offered his opinion on ZEC
Winklevoss stated that the market sentiment surrounding Zcash (ZEC) is reminiscent of the cryptocurrency market in 2019. He noted that during that period, interest in Bitcoin began to strengthen again after the 2018 bear market. ZEC, however, has shown sharp volatility this year and has recently displayed a remarkable upward trend
