BNB Chain has not yet confirmed a precise date for its 37th quarterly burn, which is expected to take place around mid-October. The regular occurrence of the event comes at the cost of tokens being permanently removed, and the timing of the event is predictable, implying less ‘surprise’ for market participants
BNB Chain reported destroying 1,615,827.8 tokens on July 15, valued at approximately $932 million at the time. That burn left 133.17 million BNB outstanding, reducing the previous supply by approximately 1.2%
The auto-burn formula uses BNB’s price and quarterly block production to determine how many tokens are removed. The programme aims to lower total supply to 100 million BNB through quarterly burns
